QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) Director Police Brigadier General Nicolas D. Torre III announced the arrest of three drug suspects who ignored the checkpoint, which led to the confiscation of over P200,000 worth of shabu, firearms, and ammunition by La Loma Police Station (PS 1) early Monday morning.

Police Lieutenant Col. Garman Manabat, the station commander of PS 1, said the suspects were residents of the City of Manila.

Based on a report, at about 3:20 a.m. of December 19, 2022, along NS Amoranto St., Barangay Salvacion, Quezon City, police were conducting a checkpoint, and policemen tried to flag down a tricycle without a headlight; however, they ignored the police officers and sped off.

A brief chase ensued, but they were cornered. One of the suspects immediately alighted from the tricycle and tried to escape but was able to be restrained by one of the police officers.

After frisking the suspects, they yielded 40 grams of shabu valued at P272,000, a caliber .38 revolver without a serial number, three pieces of ammunition, P5,300 cash, a cellular phone, and a Motorstar motorcycle with a sidecar.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 – the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Torre III applauded the operatives of PS 1 for their “perseverance and dedication in their sworn duties”, especially in the relentless campaign against anti-illegal drugs.
