20 wanted ex-NPA members arrested in Davao City amid PRO11 crackdown
AT least 20 wanted active or ex-New People’s Army members in Southern Mindanao have been arrested and jailed by agents of the Police Regional Office 11 in the wake of its intensified legal offensive against rebel personalities in the region, the Journal Group learned yesterday.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., PRO11 director, Brigadier Gen. Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said he has ordered his men to ensure that active and former members of the CPP/NPA Southern Mindanao Regional Committee who are the subject of warrants of arrest issued by different regional trial courts for various criminal offenses will be locked-up in jail.
Last November 18, members of the 2nd Davao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Lieutenant Colonel Noel C. Asumen arrested four wanted active NPA members in Barangay New Malitbog in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
Brig. Gen. Silo identified the four as Sofredo Solde alias ‘Wing-Wing/Haron/Dokyo ,’ Silang Donat alias ‘Peray/Miray,’ Orencio Solde alias ‘Wedi/Doy’ and Warlita Dianos alias ‘Jupay,37.
Solde was identified as a political/liaison officer of the CPP/NPA Southern Mindanao Region based in Barangay Malinawon in Mawab, Davao de Oro while Donat was listed as a political guide of a local guerrilla unit in Bgy. Palma Gil in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.
On the other hand, Dianos and the other Solde were described as a supply officer and secretary of the same guerrilla unit.
Brig. Gen. Silo said that the four surrendered following talks with officers of the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office led by Colonel Antonio Alberio Jr., Lieutenant Col. Noel Asumen and Majors Dexter Cuevas and Joselito Tan Jr.
All four are now under the custody of the 2nd Davao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Company while their papers are being processed to enable them to avail of government benefits and other packages for rebel returnees.
Brig. Gen. Silo also announced the arrest of 14 former members of the NPA in Southern Mindanao who are wanted for frustrated and attempted murder cases amid their stepped-up legal offensive against the CPP/NPA.
The latest of those arrested was Ricardo dela Torre alias ‘Ka Eng Eng dela Torre,’ a former member of the CPP/NPA SMR wanted for a non-bailable murder case.
The suspect was arrested in Purok Quibaton in Barangay Dominga, Calinan District in Davao City last Sunday on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Mario Duaves of the Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 15.
Another identified as Adrian Pacatang was arrested on Sunday in Purok 1, Bgy. Dominga in Calinan District in Davao City on the strength of a warrant for robbery-in band issued by Judge Jill Rose Jaugan-Lo of the Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 14.
A P100,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.
The 3rd, Arjie Bajenting alias ‘Ka Cobra’ was arrested on Sunday in Purok Basak, Bgy. Lumiad in Paquibato District on orders of Judge Ronald Tolentino of the Davao City RTC Branch 52 with a P120,000 recommended bail.
The 4th identified as Romeo Roquero alias ‘Ka Dagul’ was tracked down in his hiding place in Sitio Kalaw in Bgy. Malabog in Paquibato District. Judge Tolentino ordered the arrest of the suspect for a frustrated murder case with a P120,000 recommended bail.
The 5th identified as Rethie Obeñita alias ‘Ka Cheng-Cheng’ was arrested on Sunday in Sitio Nursery in Bgy. Malabog. Judge Retrina Fuentes of the Davao City RTC Branch 10 ordered the arrest of the acused for a kidnapping and serious illegal detention case with no bail recommended on May 29, 2018.
The 6th identified as Marlyn dela Torre alias ‘Ka Yangyang’ was arrested on Sunday in Bgy. Dominga, Calinan District. Judge Evalyn Arellano-Morales of the Davao City RTC Branch 17 ordered the arrest of the suspect for a non-bailable murder case on November 17, 2015.
Another identified as Arnel Andibor alias ‘Ka Kulas’ was arrested in Purok 8 in Bgy. Lumiad, Paquibato District last Sunday on the basis of a warrant for attempted murder issued by Judge Ridgway Tanjili of the Davao City RTC Ranch 15
The 8th identified as Ariel Obrador alias ‘Ka Jayson’ was arrested in Purok Camia in Bgy. Pañalum in Paquibato District on Sunday on the basis of a warrant for attempted murder issued by Judge Tolentino.
The 9th identified Anamie Montajes alias ‘Ka May’ was arrested in Bgy. Dominga in Calinan District on orders of Judge Mario Duaves of the RTC Branch 15.
The 10th identified as Alfie Monoy was arrested last Saturday in Los Amigos, Tugbok District on the basis of a warrant for kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by Judge Fuentes with no bail recommended.
The 11th identified as Noel Darapan, the subject of a warrant for robbery with a P100,000 recommended bail by Judge Tanjuli was arrested in Bgy. Paradise Embac .
Another identified as Danilo Indong was arrested on orders of Judge Jaugan-Lo The suspect is facing an attempted murder case with a P120,000 recommended bail.
The 13th identified as Jimboy Teves alias ‘Abu’ who is wanted for a frustrated murder case was arrested by PRO11 operatives in Sitio Quibaton in Bgy. Dominga, Calinan District in Davao City past 1 p.m. last Friday.
Judge Melinda Dayanghirang of the Davao City RTC Branch 54 recommended a P200,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused.
The 14th identified as Ricardo Omboy alias ‘Omar’ was arrested in Bgy. Los Amigos in Tugbok District, Davao City on orders of Judge Dayanghirang too. A P200,000 bail was set for the temporary freedom of the suspect.
Another identified as Michael Eboy alias ‘Ka Michael’ was arrested in Purok 11, Bgy Pañalum in Paquibato District 3:30 p.m. Friday. The suspect is also the subject of a warrant for attempted murder issued by Judge Tolentino .The court recommended a P200,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
The 16th identified as Nelson Herferves alias ‘Darokoy’ was arrested 7 a.m. Saturday along Kilometer 12 in Paquibato District.
Judge Nanette Gustilo-Lemana of the Davao City RTC Branch 11 ordered the arrest of
the accused in connection with an attempted murder case filed against him by the local police.
The judge recommended a P120,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused.
