2 Cavite cops in viral robbery-holdup video nabbed
TWO of the seven members of the Imus City Police Station in Cavite who were caught on video robbing the house of a retired professor last August were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group.
Dismissed Corporal Jenerald Cadiang, 33, and active Police Senior Master Sergeant Daisy Diones, 43, were arrested on the strength of a warrant for robbery by the use of force upon things under Article 299 of the Revised Penal Code.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Giovanni Palma of the Imus City Regional Trial Court Branch 121, said PNP-IMEG director Brig. Gen. Warren F. De Leon.
“The two were former drug operatives of the Imus City Police Station who were seen in a viral video robbing the house of a former professor three months ago,” said the official.
Members of the IMEG Luzon Field Unit and the Cavite Police Provincial Office, with the support of the Imus City Police Station, arrested the two accused cops.
Cadiang is a resident of Noveleta, Cavite while Diones is presently assigned at the Cavite PPO’s General Service Office. Each was ordered by the court to post a P120,000 bail.
De Leon said that the warrant of the arrest stemmed from a complaint of a relative of a former professor who was tagged by the accused as an alleged drug suspect.
The complaint said that the suspects forcibly opened the door of the professor’s house and once inside, some of them ransacked the place and stole several valuables, including motorcycle wheels.
De Leon said his men are still tracking down the other accused as of press time.
The two arrested suspects were detained at the Imus City police lock-up facility pending their posting of bail.
“Walang lugar ang mga ilang bulok at tiwaling miyembro ng kapulisan sa aming hanay, kaya naman pilit natin silang ihihiwalay upang hindi mahawa ang mga matuwid at may integridad na miyembro ng kapulisan. Kaya tuloy-tuloy ang aming panawagan sa ating mga kababayan na huwag mag-atubiling isumbong sa IMEG ang mga tiwali at abusadong mga pulis.” said the PNP-IMEG director.
