LLANERA, Nueva Ecija — At least 14 members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) have severed their ties from the Alyansang Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luson (AMGL) under the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), a group identified as a legal front of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

Nueva Ecija police head Col. Richard V. Caballero said the continuous efforts of the 2nd provincial mobile force company under Lt. Col. Cornelio D. Ordanza, other police units and the military were instrumental in the conduct of a successful special intelligence operation that resulted in their voluntary withdrawal of support to the CPP-NPA.

Ordanza said these 14 personalities, mostly farmers from Sitio Alfonso, Bgy. San Felipe, initially conducted a peace rally at 11:30 a.m. here.

He said they also denounced the atrocities committed by the rebel group and pledged their allegiance to the government.

The 2nd PMFC chief said the successful operation was in line with the government’s Oplan Balik-Loob program and in support of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Task Force-To End Local Communist Armed Conflict in the campaign against insurgency.

Ordanza said these personalities had undergone documentation for proper disposition.
