12 wanted for hazing death of Sorsogon student fall
TWELVE frat men wanted for the death of a student in an alleged fraternity hazing in Sorsogon in 2020 were arrested by the police in Calamba, Laguna.
Nabbed were Mar Charnel Fajardo, 22; Arman Bunyi Jr., 23; Arvin Nuñez, 25; Ronnel Balaguer, 25; Johnson Gealone, 26; Runy Gerero, 35; Remdrant Gerolao, 34; Reniel Guran, 32; Archie Dipon, 43; Ronmark Godala, 24; Billy Berania, 31; and Ulysses Berania, 29.
The suspects are all residents of Bulan, Sorsogon. They are listed as Top 10 most wanted persons in Region 5, with a warrant of arrest, issued by a court in August 2020.
The suspects were having a meeting when caught by members of the Bicol police in a house in Bgy. Lawa, Calamba, Laguna.
Police said the suspects were involved in the death of 23-year-old criminology student Omer Despabiladeras in an alleged initiation rites by the fraternity in Bulan town in February 2020.
Despabiladeras reportedly collapsed while undergoing hazing and later died.
Two other frat members, who had also undergone initiation rites, were brought to the hospital.
Authorities said among those arrested in Calamba were the two suspects who brought Despabiladeras to the hospital.
The two were nabbed a few days after the death of Despabiladeras but were released for lack of evidence.
No bail was recommended for the suspects, who are facing a case for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law.
Ten other frat men are being hunted.
