THE world community is starting to recognize the Philippines with the inclusion of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list for 2024, a senior leader of the House of Representatives today said.

“It’s a recognition of our country and the kind of leadership and governance our good President is showing,” Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. said.

He said TIME Magazine and many nations around the world appreciate the efforts of President Marcos Jr. to get the country out of its economic underdevelopment and poverty doldrums, and to pursue a new approach on foreign relations.

“Let us not waste this groundswell of goodwill to help our leaders improve our country and the lives of our people. Let us pray that they make the right decisions for our nation and the majority of us Filipinos,” he added.

Gonzales called on the people to continue supporting and praying for President Marcos Jr.

“In particular, let us support his advocacy to remove restrictions in the Constitution on the entry of foreign investments, which he believes will accelerate our economic development, a belief we, his allies in Congress, share,” he said.

In giving President Marcos Jr. the honor of being among the world’s most influential people, TIME cited his stance against China’s aggression in the South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea, and his administration’s post-Covid 19 recovery programs that allowed the country to sustain its economic growth.
