Tropang Giga strike back

JALEN Hudson scored 56 points as the TNT Tropang Giga handed Converge FiberXers their first loss, 128-122 in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Hudson, who was selected with the 7th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA G League draft by the Capital City Go-Go, went 21-of-31 shooting in 41 minutes to power the Tropang Giga to their fourth win against one loss.

The 6-6 native of Akron, Ohio added 12 rebounds and four assists for the Tropang Giga of coach Jojo Lastimosa.

Backing up Hudson were Mikey Williams, who added 19 points and four rebounds; RR Pogoy, who had 18 points and five rebounds; Paul Varilla, who chipped in with 12 points and Jayson Castro, who contributed 10 points.

Jamaal Franklin had team-highs of 47 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists in Converge’s losing effort.

Franklin had 15-of-29 shooting in 44 minutes on the floor.

Maverick Ahanmisi had 21 points and eight rebounds and Abu Tratter contributed 11 points for the FiberXers of coach Aldin Ayo.

Justine Arana and Jeron Teng added 10 and eight points, respectively.

Phoenix, which won its first four assignments, suffered its first setback.

Later Barangay Ginebra rallied from a 12-point deficit to frustrate NLEX 114-111.

Justin Brownlee finished with 44 points, 16 rebounds and six assists for the Gin Kings, who posted their second straight win while handing the Road Warriors their first loss after a 4-0 start.

Wayne Selden had 43 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in his debut for NLEX
