WITH its decision to hold a trafic summit, the government has demonstrated its determination to address Metropolitan Manila’s worsening traffic problems.

And it has given the administration of President Marcos a much-needed boost in the eyes of the people, notably the beleaguered motorists and commuters.

Traffic congestion is acknowledged to be one of the major issues confronting the travelling public in the metropolis and surrounding areas, particularly during rush hours.

Marcos said that while long-term infrastructure projects are underway, the government is looking to provide the public immediate relief from traffic congestion.

At the same time, President Marcos also called on the people, including the ordinary citizens, to participate in the traffic summit.

During the summit, which will be held in San Juan City Wednesday, concerned state agencies and local government units will discuss steps to be taken to address the problem.

The crusading President from Ilocos Norte said that the Philippines would not prosper if the people fail to follow even simple traffic rules and regulations.

“Eh, bago man ang kalye kung luma pa rin ang ugali natin ay wala rin,” according to Marcos.
