JUAMI Tiongson delivered the game-winning three-pointer as Terrafirma Dyip rallied from a 19-point deficit to stun Blackwater Bossing, 92-91, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Tiongson’s heroics came with only 12 seconds remaining, allowing the Dyip to complete a come-from-behind victory over the Bossing and tie their victims at 3-2 overall.

Blackwater, which led by as many as 61-42 early in the third period, had a chance to win the game, but RK Ilagan missed his own desperation three-pointer.

Stephen Holt, Isaac Go and Tiongson combined for 58 points for coach Johnedel Cardel-mentored Dyip.

Holt finished with 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 13 rebounds in 40 minutes of action, while Tiongson added 20 points, and six rebounds. Isaac Go contributed 17 points and seven rebounds.

Troy Rosario led Blackwater with 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and eight rebounds for coach Jeff Cariaso.

Ilagan had 15 points and five assists while Rey Suerte and Bradwyn Guinto added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

“We’re just lucky kasi nagmintis ng free throw si (Rey) Nambatac. When we got the ball, I saw there was still a lot of time, so ballscreen for Juami,” said Cardel.

“Pumasok, so good shot,” added Cardel. “I want the ball to end up with Juami or Stephen (Holt), e, ‘yung mga crucial na. Then Juami gets the ball. Iyon, ipananalo niya kami.”

Actually, Javier Gomez De Liano blocked Suerte and then made a lay-up to give the Dyip a one-point lead, 89-88, with 1:51 remaining.

Ilagan then made two free throws to make it 90-89.

Nambatac was then fouled by Gomez De Liano and split his free throws.

Last Friday, Allein Maliksi scattered 25 points as Meralco humbled Barangay Ginebra, 91-75, for its second win in five matches.

Maliksi’s game-long brilliance included four three-point shots in 23 minutes as the Bolts took as many as 31-point lead and snapped a two-game losing skid.

Chris Newsome added 19 points, six rebounds and four assists and Aaron Black contributd 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Luigi Trillo-mentored Bolts.

“We really have confidence in our guys (despite the 1-3 start). We know we’re better than that and there’s a lot of maturity all around led by Allein,” said Trillo.

Maverick Ahanmisi, Japeth Aguilar and Christian Standhardinger carried the fight for the Gin Kings, who missed ace playmaker Scottie Thompson for the third straight game due to back injury.

Ahanmisi topscored with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting and six rebounds, followed by Standhardinger with 13 points and seven rebounds and Aguilar with 13 points and six rebounds.
