Ramirez, Flores power Blue Hawks’ victory

DEFENDING champion Immaculada Concepcion College rode on the “Dynamic Duo” of Totoy Ramirez and Alfred Flores to take down Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite, 99-74 in the30th NCRAA basketball tournament at Bestlink gymnasium in Quezon City.

…Ramirez scored 18 of his 27 points in the first half, and added seven rebounds and five assists, while Flores contributed 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Blue Hawks of coach Ogie Gumatay.

Jared Vento added 17 points and Paul Gadin chipped in 10 points and five assists.

CJ Quirap led the Vanguards with 15 points and four rebounds while Nino Sollestre had 12 points and nine rebounds. Gary Avila and JM Tubio chipped in with 10 points each for coach Azlie Guro.

The Blue Hawks dominated the game from start to finish and took as many as 30-point advantage, 70-40, in the early third quarter.

In the opening match, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas relied on Ronroy Bunda’s stellar performance to defeat Lyceum of the Philippines University- Laguna, 100-86.

Bunda led the charge for the Patriots with 25 points on 7-of-14 shots from beyond the arc, along with three assists and two rebounds for coach Tito Reyes.

Gio Santiago contributed 17 points, and Darcee De Castro and Rogelio Calagos added 15 and 12 points, respectively. Calagos also notched 11 assists and five rebounds.

John Atienza led Lyceum-Laguna with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, followed by Ivan Landicho with 16 points and five assists for coach Michael Sydiangco.

Philippine Merchant Marine School rolled back Bestlink College of the Philippines, 88-81, for its third win against two defeats.

Dan Sildo, Alfred Estinopo and Jerome Jaucian combined for 42 points for the Mariners of coach Aldrin Morante.

Sildo racked up 19 points and five rebounds, Estinopo added 18 points and eight rebounds, and Jaucian contributed 15 points and five rebounds.

Anthony Ambrocio Jr. led Bestlink’s losing cause with 25 points and eight rebounds, Joshua Vidal added 17 points and 12 rebounds for coach Edwin Punio.
