LUCENA CITY-— The gruesome killing of a young female Japanese national and her mother is expected to be resolved very soon as the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) formed by the Quezon police has quickly gathered vital witnesses and pieces of physical evidence regarding the case.

The SITG “Motegi” was quickly formed by Quezon police director Col. Ledon Monte as per instruction by Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas in order to expedite the investigation following the discovery of the victims’ cadavers in a shallow pit in a subdivision in Tayabas City, Quezon province last March 14.

Monte said initial reports disclosed that the decomposing body of Lorry Litada, 54, bore a stab wound while the head of her Japanese daughter Mai Motegi, 26, had a deep wound.

He said the pit was around 26 meters away from the back side of the house of Lorry’s elder sister, Ligaya Olive Pajulas, and the latter’s husband Charlie Pajulas, where the victims stayed after they arrived in the country from Japan.

The victims were reported missing since February 21, 2024 by Litada’s other sister, Saylee Oliva Olbis.

Acting on the reports, the Tayabas City Police Station under Lt. Col. Bonna Obmerga immediately conducted an investigation resulting in the discovery of the victims’ cadavers in the shallow pit.

In a follow-up operation, the SITG headed by Monte also gathered vital witnesses who executed their affidavits and pieces of physical evidence.

Due to the sensitivity of the case, Monte refused to give details as it may hamper the continuing probe of the SITG.

Lucas welcomed this development, saying the activation of the SITG “Motegi” underscored the commitment of the authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.

“The SITG “Motegi,” which is composed of seasoned investigators and experts from different police units, is now diligently working towards unraveling the truth behind this unfortunate incident,” said Lucas.

Meanwhile, Lucas urged the public to refrain from speculations on the incident. He also asked them to extend their cooperation and support to the ongoing investigation being done by the police.

“Anyone with relevant information regarding the case is encouraged to come forward and assist us in our efforts to bring justice to the victims and their families,” Lucas said.
