THE organization of Senate Employees on Friday expressed their appreciation to all the senators who stood for the them and defended the union as a legitimate employees’ organization in the Senate.

The Sandigan ng mga Empleyadong Nagkakaisa sa Adhikain ng Demokratikong Organisasyon (SENADO) said they found a tower of support in this difficult situation where we are unjustly and maliciously accused of being “eyes and ears in the Senate and members of the CPP – NPA – NDF”.

“Truly, the only people that will blow a fuse for speaking the truth are the ones spreading lies. For over three decades, the union has been the partner of the Senate in advancing the rights, interest, and welfare of the employees and all these efforts underwent the legal process provided by the Constitution, Public Sector Labor-Management Council, and Civil Service Commission rules and regulations,” the union said.

“Not just several times our dear senators, especially Senate President Vicente Sotto III, had mentioned in their press releases and speeches the contribution of these ordinary, yet, great men and women of the institution in the delivery of public service,” they added.

The organization explained that SENADO was created by the aspiration of employees to improve our working conditions, not by the idea of weakening or overthrowing the government.

“We believe that these government officials, for red-tagging the Senate union, went too far and wrought havoc on the lives of hundreds of people that had been victimized by their malicious and baseless accusations. We are apprehensive that such allegations will divide the attention of the union and impede the advancement of our priority campaigns like the Collective Negotiation Agreement, employees’ health and safety amidst this pandemic, as well as the regularization of casual and contractual employees,” they stressed.

At the same time, the union urged Senators to demand both NICA Director-General Alex Paul Monteagudo and USEC Loraine Badoy an apology for putting the institution in indignity and our leaders’ security in peril based on purely unfounded allegations.

“While our lives, rights, and security have been put in jeopardy due to malicious, baseless, and dangerous accusations of NICA Dir. Gen. Monteagudo and USEC Badoy, we will continue to stand for the truth, speak for the truth, and work collectively for the employees and the people we serve,” they insisted.
