Sean gets another demanding role
SEAN De Guzman gave a very good performance in last year’s “Relyebo” as a security guard who cheats on his pregnant wife and later on pays dearly for his sin. He now gets another demanding role in the sexy crime-thriller, “Lawa”, directed by American filmmaker Phil Giordano.
As Peter, he plays a sociopathic and voyeuristic young man who goes regularly to a beautiful lake where lovers cavort and fornicate. With his video camera, he secretly records their very intimate moments. So how is it working with a foreign director like Phil Giordano?
“Direk Phil is sobrang gaan katrabaho,” he says. “Cool lang siya sa set, kabiruan namin. Hindi ako ganoon ka-fluent in English but we understand each other. And also, our acting coach helps us when we don’t understand ‘yung point na gusto ni Direk for a scene. The coach explains to us. But Direk really gives us a lot of freedom in interpreting our roles and he listens to our suggestions.
We had fun shooting this lock in, for one week in Zambales. It’s a big cast at naging tropa kami lahat ng co-stars ko. Wala nang hiyaan kasi we are all with Viva and we had good rapport.”
One of the couples who go to the “lawa” or lake is Mia (Cara Gonzales) and RJ (Josef Elizalde.) They have no inkling that someone is videotaping their sexual tryst. But Peter will be in for a surprise when a crime happens and he gets to record it by chance on video.
Will he tell the police about it or will he keep it a secret? Then, all of a sudden, Mia becomes so accommodating to him and starts seducing him. Will he succumb to the lures of the flesh or will his conscience be stronger in reminding him to reveal the truth about the crime has witnessed?
“Lawa” also stars Jela Cuenca as Rudy, the cool, intelligent and open-minded best friend of Peter. If there’s anyone Peter can trust with his secret it would be her. But would he dare tell about the crime? And what will happen if she would find out?
