Rape suspect abandons van, eludes arrest in Los Baños
A MAN facing a rape case already escaped from the authorities conducting an operation to serve his warrant of arrest on Tuesday in his hideout in Mendiola Road, Barangay San Antonio, Los Baños, Laguna.
Los Baños Police said the suspect with the alias “Sultan” was still at large as of press time and allegedly abandoned his vehicle, which was found discovered near his residence.
The operatives of Los Baños Police with the strength warrant of arrest issued by Presiding Judge Maricel Magpantay-Ng of Branch 58 of RTC (Regional Trial Court) Lucena City.
The operatives, upon arrival, found the accused had already escaped from his hideout and fled in an unknown direction, and left his Toyota Innova van unattended around 12:15 a.m. (January 18).
It was learned from the office of Bgy. San Antonio that the abandoned vehicle was parked unattended.
Immediately, police sought the assistance of the Laguna Highway Patrol Unit, and upon verification, it was learned that the vehicle was registered to a different person.
The abandoned vehicle yielded several items such as assorted clothes, a backpack with one Intratec semi-automatic gun with a serial number loaded with a magazine with 23 live ammunition, three magazines, and a “sumpak” or improvised gun.
Also recovered were several IDs, a bolo, a sack of bananas, water containers, soy sauce containers, an LPG tank, a black plastic utility box with clothes, a carton box with two live chickens, P2,000 cash and all evidence were turned over to Los Baños Police.
