BROADCASTER and vlogger Raffy “Idol” Tulfo vehemently refuted circulating reports that he’s running for vice president in the 2022 elections out of his utmost respect for President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a statement on his “Wanted sa Radyo” program, Tulfo admitted that he was offered by some politicians, whom he did not name, to be their vice president, but he turned them down.

“Hindi po ako tatakbo sa pagka bise presidente sa darating na halalan. Meron naghikayat sa akin na maging ka-tandem nila sa 2022 elections at tinanggihan ko. I said no. Why? Mataas ang respeto ko kay PRRD. Kay Pangulong Duterte,” Tulfo said.

“Wala po akong intensiyon na banggain siya sa darating na halalan,” he added, referring to Duterte’s plan to run in the 2022 elections as vice president.

Tulfo also admitted that he mentioned 16 million voters and 42 million, but clarified that the latter is not his subscribers, but of ABS-CBN Entertainment that could possibly clash with the 16 million voters of President Duterte if the issue of the ABS-CBN franchise is revived next year.

“Kapag halimbawa nagkaroon ng referendum kunwari lang, there might be a clash between 16 million voters versus 36 million subscribers ng ABS-CBN, magka-clash. Iyon po ang sinabi ko,” he clarified.

Tulfo said he also clarified the matter and apologized to his friends who are certified and die-hard Duterte supporters, saying what they read on social media were merely misinformation.

“After explaining to them, I apologized to them and I told them sorry kung kayo’y nakasagap ng misinformation. Matapos kong masabi iyon, naintindihan nila and they moved on,” he said.

Tulfo emphasized that he meant no disrespect to the 16 million voters of President Duterte, saying he’s one of those who elected the Chief Executive as the country’s leader in 2016.

“In fact, ito pong mikroponong ito sa Wanted sa Radyo, kinampanya ko po si President Duterte. I did and maraming nakakaalam niyan. So no disrespect sa 16 million voters ni President Duterte,” Tulfo said.

“Sana, huwag na tayong magpakalat ng fake news para sa ikabubuti ng ating bayan,” he ended.
