QCPD rounds up 26 illegal gambling suspects

A TOTAL of 26 persons were arrested in anti-illegal gambling operations conducted by different police stations in Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, PBGEN Antonio C Yarra said 14 suspects were arrested for illegal cockfighting or tupada on December 12, 2021. Eight of them were arrested by Batasan Police Station (PS 6) along Presidential St., Brgy. Batasan Hills, Quezon City; eight were arrested by Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) along Area D, NIA Road, Brgy. Pinyahan, Quezon City; while Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13) arrested three in Clemencia Village, Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

Confiscated were fighting cocks, gaffs, and bet money.

Meanwhile, four suspects were rounded up playing cara y cruz by operatives of the Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14) and La Loma Police Station (PS 1) on December 12, 2021.

Confiscated were pangara coins and bet money.

PS 6 arrested four suspects for poker pool at about 1:30 p.m.of December 12, 2021, in Area 4 Sitio Payong, Brgy. Old Balara, Quezon City. Seized from them were 13 pcs. pizza pool, a table pool, two pcs. pool cue, playing cards, and bet money.

The arrested suspects are presently under the custody of the arresting Police Stations. They will be charged with violation of PD 1602 (Illegal Gambling) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
