MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Isko Moreno urged all those who have unsettled ordinance violation receipts (OVRs) with the city government to avail of the amnesty which is nearing its deadline.

“’Yung mga nahuli sa traffic, nakapaloob pa rin sa amnesty hanggang December 31, so better grab the opportunity,” Moreno said, after learning from Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau director Dennis Viaje that many motorists have yet to settle their dues even if the announcement was made three months ago.

Moreno said he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna decided to give the amnesty to enable the citizens to practice self-discipline.

“Hindi ko gusto na nagkakaroon ng pondo ang Maynila dahil sa mga paglabag sa batas-trapiko. Lagi tayong nagiisyu ng amnesty dahil ang gusto ko lang ay kusang disiplina. Nais din naming iparamdam sa inyo na me gobyernong umuunawa sa inyong lahat,” he added.

The said amnesty is contained in city ordinance 8699, which Moreno signed after it was passed by the Manila City Council headed by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna as its presiding officer, majority floorleader Atty. Joel Chua and president pro tempore Jong Isip. In it, Viaje had been tasked to apprise his personnel in charge of processing OVRs about the said ordinance and its provisions.

Even holders of OVRs with pending cases relative to their traffic violation are also eligible to avail of the amnesty via online, through the GoManila App or GCash.
