POLICE Regional Office (PRO) 11 Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. on Thursday announced the arrest of a wanted Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) personality in Southern Mindanao during an operation in Mati City in Davao Oriental.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the PRO 11 director said the suspect, with the alias “Kumander Risa/Cara,” was described as a “political instructor” of the underground rebel movement in the region.

Silo said that members of the Mati City Police Station led by Lt. Col. Ernesto Gregore, with the support of the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Army’s 701st Infantry Brigade (IB), arrested the 37-year-old suspect.

He said that the arrest was made on the strength of a warrant for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 issued against the accused by Judge Angelita Alfonso-Tumanda of the Mati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 5 on July 16, 2020.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect from Barangay Don Salvador Lopez in Mati City.

Silo said that the suspect was placed under the temporary custody of the 701st Brigade since she is a “high-risk communist terrorist group personality” and pending the delivery of an official jail commitment order to the Davao Oriental Provincial Reformatory and Rehabilitation Center.
