A PHILIPPINE National Police’s (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) marijuana eradication drive in Kibungan, Benguet, this week destroyed an estimated P650,000 worth of fully-grown marijuana (MJ) plants and seedlings, DEG Director Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo said on Thursday.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to locate and destroy all clandestine marijuana production sites in the country as ordered by PNP Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.,” the official told the Journal Group.

According to the official, the three-day operation, which ended last Wednesday, saw members of the DEG Cordillera Special Operations Unit (SOU) leading police troops in scouring five cannabis sites in Sitio Tebteb in Barangay Badeo in Kibungan municipality.

The operation led to the uprooting of more than 3,000 pieces of the prohibited crops valued by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) at P650,000.

Domingo said his men sprayed herbicide in the areas to prevent more marijuana plants from growing.

However, no arrests were made during the operation, which also involved members of the Cordillera Police Regional Office.
