NEARLY P7 billion in taxes were remitted by the Philippine National Police to the Bureau of Internal Revenue in 2022 amid the organization’s full support to the tax campaign of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr., PNP chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. said yesterday.

“In full support to the 2023 tax campaign of the national government that was launched last February 7th by President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., I am pleased to announce that the Philippine National Police remitted a total of P6,970,710,958.31 to the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Fiscal Year 2022,” said the top cop.

Gen. Azurin said the amount represented the individual income taxes of 228,962 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the PNP.

“By this amount, each PNP taxpayer paid a per capita average of P30,444.84 income taxes in Fiscal Year 2022. In short, police personnel belong to the easy-to-tax sector of the taxable population who pay the right amount of taxes on time,” he explained.

Gen. Azurin said all PNP personnel dutifully fulfill their annual tax obligations to fund government expenditure for healthcare services, public education, infrastructure development, food security, social services, and defense, making the PNP consistently among the top taxpayer agencies.

The PNP chief also echoed the call of the government to encourage the public to pay the correct amount of taxes on time to support the country’s economic recovery.
