Pinoy workers’ wish

THE Philippines is seen to continue relying on the manpower export industry to meet the employment needs of its burgeoning population.

Besides, the multibillion-dollar remittances of overseas Filipinos, mostly migrant workers, prop up the domestic economy even during trying times.

Admittedly, like other Third World nations across the globe, the country is still trying hard to create more quality and high-paying local jobs.

“Ang totoo niyan ay gusto ng mga otoridad na darating rin ang panahon na hindi na tayo mangibang bansa para lang kumita ng malaki,” a laborer said.

Earlier this year, President Marcos told Filipinos in Washington, DC that the government is working hard to boost the quality of jobs in the country.

Marcos assured the Filipino people that the time will come when our workers, including women, would no longer have to go abroad out of necessity.

Due to lack of high-paying jobs in the Philippines, our workers, including teachers, nurses and other professionals, still prefer to work abroad.

The reservoir of jobless and underemployed Filipinos include even college graduates, who find it difficult to look for high-paying jobs in the Philippines.

It is heartening to know that the government, through concerned offices and agencies, is out to address the problem of joblessness in the country.

Of course, it is the wish of our workers, who are in great demand in foreign lands, including the United States, that they have stable jobs here.
