PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos Tuesday said he has ordered the Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO4-A) to leave no stones unturned in their investigation into the killing of Assistant City Prosecutor Edilbert Mendoza in Cavite on New Year’s Eve.

A still unidentified gunman shot to death the 48-year old Mendoza outside his residence in Cavite City before fleeing.

“The investigators will look into the cases handled by Fiscal Mendoza to establish if the motive of the crime is job-related,” Carlos said.

Carlos said he has instructed PRO4-A director, Brigadier Gen. Eliseo DC Cruz to take note of sensational cases that may warrant threat against the prosecutor’s life.

The Trece Martires City Police Station is gathering more evidence including the CCTV footage operating inside the subdivision, he said.

Carlos said some ‘persons of interest’ have been identified but refused to give clues on their identities saying any premature disclosure may compromise the ongoing investigation.
