AN alleged “peeping tom” was arrested after he was caught “recording” a woman while taking a bath in Quezon City.

The arrested suspect, 21, and a resident of Alicia, Isabela, is now detained at the Batasan Police Station (PS) 6.

PS 6 Commander Police Lieutenant Col. Morgan Aguilar said the incident happened at around 9 p.m., March 21, 2023.

The 25-year-old victim was reportedly taking a bath inside her residence in Barangay Batasan Hills when she noticed a cellphone apparently “inserted” at the hole in the bathroom wall.

She immediately went outside and saw the suspect holding the same mobile phone she had noticed in the hole. Thereafter, she confronted the suspect and sought assistance from her companion, who later accompanied her to bring the suspect to PS 6 station, which resulted in his apprehension.

The suspect will be charged with violation of unjust vexation and Republic Act (RA) 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act.

Photo or video voyeurism means the act of taking a photo or video coverage of a person or group of persons performing a sexual act or any similar activity or of capturing an image of the private area of a person or persons without the latter’s consent. It is geared to protect the privacy, honor, dignity and integrity of a person.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa publiko sa pagtitiwala niyo sa kapulisan at pagtulong niyo para mahuli ang mga ganitong tao na gumagawa ng ‘di kanais-nais. Nawa’y ipagpatuloy po ninyo ang pagreport sa mga taong gumagawa ng kahit anumang krimen, para tayo’y manatiling ligtas sa bawat oras,” Torre said.
