PHILIPPINE Christian University displayed too much class in beating Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, 86-73, to take the solo lead even as Mapua University toppled estwhile unbeaten University of Perpetual Help Dalta System, 81-71, in the 2nd Philippine University Basketball League (PUBL) at PCU gym in Manila.

Mark Edison Ordonez scattered 24 points to lead the Dolphins of former PBA standout Biboy Simon to their fourth straight win in this six-team tournament organized by PUBL in cooperation with the Federation of School Sports Assiciation of the Philippines (FESSAP) and Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP)

Yam Conception and Edward Veloso contributed 15 and 10 points, respectively, for the Dolphins, who are being supported by PCU Athletic Directress Dr. Ruth Martha Beata Iljiran.

Generoso Cecilio had 24 markers for the Amante Flores-mentored Blue Sharks, who suffered their fourth straight loss in as many outings.

The Intramuros-based Cardinals of coach Ernani Epondulan and Lito Aguilar rode on Kobe Dalisay, Mark Cuenco and Clint Escamis in beating the Altas in a tighly-contested encounter.

Dalisay fired 21 points, including five three points in the second half, for the Cardinals.

Cuenco added 17 points and Escamis contributed 15 points.

Mark Denver Omega and Joey Barcuma combined for 32 points for the Altas who dropped to 3-1.

In the first game Technological University of the Philippines downed Bataan Peninsula State University 79-73, to stay in the hunt for the final four spot.

The Grayhawks, who arebeing handled by multi-titled coach Arlene Rodriguez, relied on John Jerome Bayani, Carl Bringas, Dave Magbanua and Andrew Juanites to roll back the Stallions from Bataan.

Bayani topscored with 20 points, Bringas had 15 points and Magbanua and Juanites had 10 points apiece in the Grayhawks’ first win in four outings.

John Carlos Valerio and Isiah De Leon scored 22 and 20 points for BPSU which dropped to 1-3. AA
