PCG officer shot dead by wife’s kin; suspect nabbed

INDANG, Cavite – A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) commissioned officer was shot dead while resting on the terrace of his mother-in-law’s home on Monday, September 26, 2022, in Barangay Cerca.

The victim died on the spot due to several gunshot wounds in the body.

The suspect, a “Bantay Bayan” member, was arrested in a follow-up operation by the police, a relative of the victim’s wife, and a resident of the same barangay.

In the investigation of Police Sergeant Oliver A. Riazon Jr. of Indang Philippine National Police (PNP), the shooting incident occurred at 11:00 a.m. while the victim was on the terrace of his in-laws’ residence when the suspect was already waiting with a handgun.

The suspect shot the victim multiple times without any provocation and quickly left the scene, bringing his gun with him.

According to the police probers, before the incident, the victim and the suspect had been drinking.
