Senator Sonny Angara described the move of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as proper and timely after the latter announced to eliminate redundant and overlapping functions in the government.

Angara yesterday said it’s about time that government does this move to rightsize the bureaucracy in order to save money for the Filipino people.

Angara who chairs Senate on finance further said that this move has been a usual practice in other countries that consistently and regularly monitor the overlapping functions of various government agencies.

Noting that some government offices do not seem to be useful anymore, it is high time, he said that their office should be abolished or merged with other offices to reduce the additional burden on the Filipino people.

Angara expressed the belief that the move to abolish or reorganize other government agencies will give additional savings to our government insisting that this effort will cut costs that the government is paying regularly.

It was reported that President Marcos jr., recently ordered the abolition of the controversial Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and some other offices that are not anymore functioning well as he issued Executive Order no. 1.

The economic team of President Marcos earlier announced to expel redundant, ineffective, and inefficient government bodies to make sure that the money of the people will be used accordingly.
