MEMBERS of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group on Sunday recovered more than 1.6 kilos hidden inside NAIA Terminal 1 restaurant which shut down its operations during the pandemic.

The 1,685 grams of shabu valued at P11,458,000 were found in the kitchen area of the former Hari Raya Lounge located at the Terminal 1’s departure area, said Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group director Colonel Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr.

It turned out that a group of construction workers accidentally found the contraband wrapped in three big improvised pouches while they were dismantling old kitchen facilities in the area. The workers reported their find to the security guard who in turn alerted the NAIA-IADITG

Col. Domingo said the recovered pieces of drug evidence were brought to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for documentation and proper disposition.

PDEA chair, Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo ordered a thorough investigation into the accidental discovery of the drugs.
