Or. Mindoro ‘slay’ suspect arrested in Pampanga

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas — A farmer suspected of involvement in a murder case in Oriental Mindoro was nabbed Saturday along Gonzales Avenue, Apalit, Pampanga, provincial police PIO chief Police Lieutenant Pauline P. Fernando said.

A report of the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Police Col. Pedro D, Soliba to Regional Director, PRO-CALABARZON (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) P/Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., said the 53-year-old farmer hails from Bgy. Balatbat, Lobo, Batangas, and a resident of Bgy. Bonga Menor, Bustos, Bulacan.

The suspect was cornered by joint operatives of the Balete Municipal Police Station (MPS), Socorro MPS-Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (MPPO) along with the 2nd Platoon, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) during a manhunt operation at 3:30 am on January 28.

A warrant of arrest was issued against the suspect on September 5, 2022, by the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 42, of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro with no bail recommended.

The suspect is allegedly a most wanted person in Oriental Mindoro.

The victim, Alfredo Alda Magtibay, was shot dead around 7:30 pm on March 24, 2022, in Bgy. Calocmoy, Soccoro in Orienntal Mindoro.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the Balete MPS holding cell for further disposition.
