OFW Party-list Representative Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino led the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the OFW Tulong at Serbisyo Center Wednesday at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

The OFW Party-ist, in cooperation with Buhay OFW Foundation, headed by Magsino, opened the first privately-run community and service hub solely for our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families on the 4th floor of the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City.

“The OFW Tulong at Serbisyo Center, in partnership with the Ayala Malls, aims to provide our OFWs with a quality, welcoming, and accessible place where they can avail the various programs and services of the OFW Party List, attend training and seminars by allied institutions, and congregate and align with their fellow OFWs,” said Magsino.

Two repatriated OFWs helped by the OFW Party-list to safely return to the country joined Magsino in the ribbon-cutting, symbolically lending their support to the community and service hub as it hopes to serve more distressed OFWs like them.

Leaders of various OFW organizations and the officers of the OFW Party-list likewise joined the ceremony with notable personalities in the legislative and executive branches attending the opening of the OFW Tulong at Serbisyo Center.

The House of Representatives lent its support to the event with the presence of thirteen House Members, led by Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan and Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

Mayor Eric Olivarez of Parañaque City also attended and delivered a message of support.

Partner agencies in delivering services to OFWs were also in full force, led by Chairman Junie Cua of the Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO), Usec. Hans Leo Cacdac and Usec. Bernard Olalia of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Administrator Arnell Ignacio of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Usec. Rowena Niña Taduran of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Usec. Juan Victor Llamas of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Usec. Marlon Purificacion of the Presidential Communications Office.

“We always say we hail our OFWs for their sacrifices, but we must match our pronouncements with actions. The OFW Party-list, in cooperation with Buhay OFW Foundation, built our OFW Tulong at Serbisyo Center to let our OFWs truly feel our sincerity in valuing them, our seriousness in helping them, and eagerness in treating them as ‘mga bida ng ating bayan,’” said Magsino.
