STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija – An octogenarian was killed after being roasted alive in a fire that gutted their house on Friday night here.

Major Fortune Dianne Bernardo, town police head, said the victim was a resident of Bgy. Zamora.

Due to his old age and weakness, he allegedly failed to exit the house on time, trapping him in the fire that struck their home at 8:30 p.m.

His wife and two other members of the household were safe after managing to get out of the burning house immediately, said Bernardo.

The police chief said they had already requested the NEPPO Forensics Unit to process the fire scene.

Nueva Ecija fire authorities have yet to determine the origin and cause of the blaze, including the total amount of damages to property.
