NUEVA Ecija Capitals seek to extend their winning streak to five games when they take on 1Munti in the Pilipinas Super League (PSL) President’s Cup at the Central Recreation & Fitness Center.

Game time is 8 p.m.

Coach Jerson Cabiltes feels the team has not yet reach its full potentials as both his old and new players are still trying to familiarize themselves and put up a united front.

Among the team’s recent additions are Kriss Gurtiza, Axel Doromal, Ralph Robin, JP Maguliano, Nat Cosejo, Emman Calo, Billy Ray Robles, and Robby Celiz.

“Actually, it’s still very hard to play alongside each other. We’re practicing siguro two to three weeks pa lang and still iyong pag-gamit ko ng tao mahirap pa rin. Iyong variation at iyong team chemistry, hinahanap pa namin,” Cabiltes said.

“Medyo naiilang pa sila, lalo na yung mga nagpanalo sa amin sa last game against Davao Occidental (Dec. 3). Medyo nangangapa pa. So it’s a growing process,” added Cabiltes

The Capitals, also recognized as the Rice Vanguards in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, are supported by the team’s owner, businessman-sportsman Bong Cuevas.

“Short time break lang. We’re just gonna prepare for our next game against 1Munti.”

Nueva Ecija also defeated JT Taipan Toda Aksyon Bulacan, 109-67, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan last Nov.25; Alpha Omega Kings, 81-77, at the Caloocan Sports Complex last Nov. 28., Davao Occidental Tigers Cocolife, 102-91 at the Nueva Ecija Coliseum last Dec. 2. and Caloocan Supremos 76-63 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan last Dec. 6.

Celiz and Robles spearheaded the scoring for Nueva Ecija against Caloocan, with Celiz contributing 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Robles scoring 11 points.
