NO import Venky Jois, no problem for NorthPort Batang Pier.

Six players, led by Arvin Tolentino and Joshua Munzon, scored in double figures as NorthPort subdued San Miguel Beer, 115-101, for its fifth win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

With Jois sidelined by a hamstring injury, Tolentino took over the scoring cudgels for the Batang Pier with 28 points on 7-of-12 shooting in 31 minutes of action for coach Bonnie Tan.

Munzon added 16 points, including three triples; for the Batang Pier, who led by as many as 26 points at 113-87 before coasting to the 14-point triumph.

Cade Flores contributed 15 points, five rebounds and five assists; John Michael Calma and Brent Paraiso had 11 points each and Jeff Chan 10,

Overall, Northport climbed to 5-2 behind only Magnolia (6-0) and Phoenix Super LPG (5-1).

Tan said Jois is expected to rejoin them in their next game.

“May tighness lang sa left hamstring lang, but he said he’ll be OK,” said Tan.

Ivan Aska had 26 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Beermen, who struggled without seven-time MVP June Mar Fajardo and dropped to 3-2.

Mo Tautuaa and Marcio Lassiter added 18 and 16 points, respectively, for San Miguel, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

CJ Perez had 11 markers. Fajardo, is reportedly out of action for four to six weeks due to a fractured left hand.

The Beermen are already playing without Terrence Romeo, Jeron Teng, and Vic Manuel.

Up next for NorthPort is Meralco at 3 p.m. on Sunday also at the same Pasig venue.

San Miguel will also return to action when it meets unbeaten Magnolia in the second game at 6:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, voting for the 2024 PBA All Stars started last Sunday and will run up for the next two months.

Fans are again expected to vote on the Top 24 players who will comprise the two All-Star teams set to play in the mid-season spectacle to be held in Bacolod City.

After the fans have voted for the Top 24 players (regardless of position), the PBA coaches and media shall vote for the 25th to 28th players.

The slight change in voting mechanics for the last four spots will enable the participation of All-Star- worthy players who have captured the admiration of coaches and media because of their outstanding play and contribution to their teams.

Similar to last season, the coaches handling both All-Star teams will be known through fan balloting, too.
