THERE will be a total “changing of the guards” at the Metro Manila police force with the decision of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. to designate a new head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and his five district directors.

Gen. Azurin picked incoming Major Gen. Jonnel C. Estomo of Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992 as the new NCRPO director vice Maj. Gen. Felipe R. Natividad of PMA “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990.

Natividad will be the new Area Police Command-Northern Luzon director, a position that will earn him his 3rd-star. The post used to be occupied by Gen. Azurin before he was chosen by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. to be his 1st PNP chief and the 28th head of the police force in its 31-year history.

The new Manila Police District (MPD) will be Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon, a member of the PNP Academy Class 1994 who used to be the PNP Aviation Security Group chief.

Dizon replaced Brig. Gen. Leo M. Francisco of PMA Class 1992, who will be the new Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) director in Western Visayas.

The new Southern Police District (SPD) director will be Col. Kirby John B. Kraft of PNPA Class 1994. A former PNP Special Action Force director, Kraft, will replace Brig. Gen. Jimili L. Macaraeg, who was designated as the new PRO12 director in Central Mindanao.

Col. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones was designated as the new district director of the Northern Police District (NPD) vice Brig. Gen. Ulysses G. Cruz of PMA Class 1992 who was named as new director of the PNP EOD/K-9 Group.

On the other hand, Col. Wilson C. Asueta was named as the new director of the Eastern Police District (EPD) vice Brig. Gen. Jerry F. Bearis of PNPA Class 1993 who will be going to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) in Central Luzon.

The new Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director will be Col. Jaysen C. de Guzman of PNPA Class 1995. He will be replacing Brig. Gen. Remus B. Medina of PNPA Class 1993.

The new NCRPO director and five district directors will supervise their men’s stepped-up campaign versus criminality, drugs, terror, and corruption, said Gen. Azurin.

Kraft, Peñones, Asueta, and de Guzman will get their star-rank with their new positions.
