MTPB enforcers receive 5 kilos of ‘Jasmin’ rice
SOME 801 traffic enforcers of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) were given five kilos of Jasmin rice as additional “assistance” provided by outgoing Mayor Isko Moreno and Mayor-elect Honey Lacuna-Pangan.
MTPB Director Dennis Viaje led the distribution of rice in a simple ceremony held on Tuesday afternoon at the Kartilya ng Katipunan attended by other officials and employees of the bureau.
In his speech, Director Viaje admitted that they felt sorry if they decided to “terminate” the service of traffic personnel involved in corruption since they know that they also have their family to feed, but it will be unfair to others who were removed from service due to the same offense.
“Kaya po itigil na natin ang paggawa ng hindi mabuti, kasi nasa gobyerno tayo, sa gobyerno, public service yan, ang trabaho natin, magbigay ng serbisyo sa publiko. Pasalamat tayo sa Diyos ay binigyan niya tayo ng pagkakataong maglingkod sa gobyerno, milyon ang tao sa Maynila subalit tayo ay naging mapalad na manungkulan sa lungsod na ito na kapitolyo pa ng ating bansa,” Director Viaje told hundreds of traffic enforcers.
He also instructed his men not to forget to send a message of thanks to Mayor Isko and Mayor-elect Honey Lacuna at least on their social media accounts for their efforts in providing them with five kilos of one of the best varieties of rice.
Director Viaje also reminded his men to wear their uniforms properly and stay well-groomed to look presentable to the public.
“Hindi porke’t naka-face mask tayo ngayon, papayag na kayo na mangamoy kayo dahil hindi naman halata. Kailangan, malinis kayo at maayos kasi personalidad niyo yan, magre-reflect yan sa sarili ninyo,” he added.
He also allayed fears over the possible termination from the office of job order traffic enforcers when Mayor-elect Honey Lacuna started to take the helm as city chief executive since she assured him that all traffic enforcers will remain in their post.
“Basta huwag lang kayong gagawa ng mortal sin, ang mortal sin dito yung kotong, basta tuloy niyo lang ang paggawa ng mabuti,” Director Viaje said.
