ILANG consumers ng MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) sa Iloilo City ang nagsimula nang makakuha ng refund sa kanilang bill deposit.

Sa isinagawang simpleng seremonya sa tanggapan ng More Power ay tatlong consumers ang unang nabigyan ng refund kabilang sina Emmanuel Improgo, Baby Jean Agustin at Barangay Chairman Romeo Losario Jagorin Jr. ng Brgy. Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Ang bill deposit ang binabayad ng mga consumer kapag nag-apply ng kanilang electric meter, alinsunod sa Article 7 ng Magna Carta for residential electric consumers. Ang bill deposit ay kailangang ibalik ng mga Distribution Utilities (DU) makalipas ang tatlong taon o 36 buwan sa kondisyon na ang consumer ay nagbabayad sa oras at walang record ng disconnection.

Kwento ni Baby Jean, malaking tulong na ibinalik sa kanya ang bill deposit. Aniya, hindi nya alam na may ganitong patakaran kaya naman nabigla sya nang tawagan sya ng More Power na kuwalipikado sya para sa refund.

Para naman sa consumer na si Improgo, malaking tulong ang natanggap nitong P2,500.

“Ito pala yung sinasabi nila na bill deposit refund, malaking bagay ito sa amin,” dagdag nito.

Ayon kay MORE Power President at CEO Roel Castro ang kanilang kusang pagbabalik ng bill deposit ay sa hangarin na rin nila na maging ehemplo sa iba pang distribution utilities(DU).

“I was asking some DU’s, why are you not returning? They said, well, the customers are not asking for it. Again, that is where I can draw the line between the DU that is customer-focused. Because even if the customer does not ask for it, we go out of our way to inform the customers that this is due you and we will return it,” pahayag ni Castro.

“Since we don’t have any intention to use the money, we do not have the intention to keep the money; we do not have the intention of using it for our operation; why keep it when it is already due for return, for the refund to customers?” dagdag pa nito.

Samantala, pinuri ni Energy Regulatory Commission(ERC) Commissioner Alexis Lumbatan ang bill deposit refund initiative ng More Power.

Ani Lumbatan, na dumalo sa seremonya, bihira ang mga DU na kusang nagbabalik ng refund maliban na lamang kung hingin ng consumers kaya malaking bagay na sinimulan ito ng More Power.

“You know, bihirang – bihira po for any distribution utility to return the bill at the instance of the DU. I am so happy that I am here today, taking part in this great milestone. Mismong si DU tumatawag sa mga consumers to return the bill the deposit. For five years, I have been with the commission and I’m the oversight commissioner for consumer affairs. That’s why this milestone is very-very close to me”pahayag ni Lumbatan.

Hinimok ni Castro ang kanilang consumers na magbayad sa oras at huwag magkaroon ng disconnection o maputol ang kanilang kuryente upang maibalik agad sa kanila ang refund.

Nabatid na mayroong P5 million bill deposits fund ang More Power na handang ibalik sa mga consumers para ngayong taon.
