BBM-Sara UniTeam, Romualdez aid pours into typhoon-hit areas
SIARGAO Island – FORMER Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Monday continued the UniTeam’s Humanitarian Relief Mission, visiting other Super Typhoon Odette-hit provinces to bring aid and support to the disaster-affected families and communities.
Marcos and House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin G. Romualdez turned over 10 a.m. to Surigao del Norte Gov. Francisco Matugas and Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco Jose II “Bingo” Matugas P2 million in financial assistance and 2,000 food packs worth P1 million, 3,000 bags of rice to be distributed in Surigao del Norte (2,000 bags) and Siargao Island (1,000 bags) at Dapa, Siargao Island for Super Typhoon Odette’s victims.
“Sama-sama po tayong babangon. Tutulong po kami,” Marcos said after he and Romualdez held a brief consultation with typhoon victims here.
Gov. Matugas thanked the UniTeam for its genuine concern in helping their constituents after the province, especially Siargao Island, which is internationally known for surfing, was devastated by Odette.
Marcos and Romualdez immediately flew to Capiz where they met Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and handed over 12 p.m. Monday to Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras P2 million in financial assistance and 2,000 food packs worth P1.2 million at the provincial capitol for typhoon victims.
As of press time Monday, the UniTeam is scheduled to visit Masbate City and Silay Airport in Negros Occidental to meet with local officials and turn over its assistance to typhoon victims.
On Sunday, the UniTeam downloaded assistance and aid to local officials of Southern Leyte, Butuan City, Bohol and Cebu to complete its eight-province swing in two days to help the victims of Super Typhoon Odette.
