Truck driver, ex-OFW yield P357K shabu in Ecija buy-busts

GAPAN CITY — A truck driver and a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) on Tuesday were arrested in separate buy-bust operations that resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs worth P357,952 in this city.

In a report to Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Richard V. Caballero, city police head Lt. Col. Wilmar M. Binag said the suspects were nabbed in separate operations in Bgy. Bayanihan at 5:35 a.m. and in Bgy. Sto.Niño at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday.

Binag said the first suspect is a 40-year-old truck driver who is high school undergraduate and a resident of Purok 1, Bgy. Rajal Norte, Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija.

The suspect yielded two plastic sachets containing shabu weighing two grams and worth P13,600.

The second suspect is a 49-year-old former OFW, a college graduate, of Libis Drive, Bgy. San Nicolas, this city,

Police seized from the ex-OFW five plastic sachets of shabu with an approximate weight of 50.64 grams worth P344,352.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied for inquest-filing against the arrested suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

“The Gapan City Police remain steadfast in their mission to eliminate all illegal activities. We will persistently execute anti-criminal campaigns to safeguard public safety and maintain peace and order in Gapan City,” the official said.
