AT the 5th Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano expressed his support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s legislative initiatives saying that those are aimed at strengthening the country’s economy with its top priority being the welfare of the Filipino.

Cayetano called for Congress to cooperate and collaborate for the good of the country and the Filipino people in passage of the Executive’s legislative priorities aimed at improving the life of the Filipino.

The 5th LEDAC which was convened and presided by the Chief Executive at Malacañang Palace to discuss priority measures on June 25, emphasized the shared commitment to prioritize essential and meaningful legislation in the remaining 73 sessions days of the 19th Congress.

Cayetano serves as one of the members from the legislatives of the LEDAC, which facilitates high-level policy discussions on crucial issues and concerns affecting national development and advises the national economic and planning agency on essential programs and policies.

Earlier, Senate President Francis Chiz Escudero lauded the effort of the Chief Executive for its continuous appeal for Congress to prioritize important bills that will help alleviate the present situation of the people and to make sure that the people will benefit from it, as he wants to make sure that the Senate’s legislative agenda is geared toward inclusive and sustainable development.

“By focusing on important measures, we aim to foster economic resilience, improve public service delivery and enhance the quality of life for all Filipinos . We are optimistic that with collaboration and dedication, we can achieve these legislative goals and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our citizens,” Escudero was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Cayetano’s legislative measures which include Open Access in Data Transmission Act and the E-Governance Act seeks to enhance the Philippines’ digital infrastructure by expanding access to data services is also contained in the LEDAC Common Legislative Agenda (CLA), with a target for passage by the end of June 2024,

Cayetano also advocated for the E-Governance Act, citing the lengthy and often frustrating process of accessing government services and assistance which he described as a “game changer” that would expedite government services and reduce opportunities for corruption.

The Senate will reconvene on July 22 coinciding with the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos Jr.
