MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno assured those belonging to the informal sector of the A4 category like vendors and public utility vehicle drivers that they will be vaccinated based on trust, even sans any ID.

“Pag nasa informal sector kayo, paniniwalaan namin kayo. Don’t worry, I trust you,” Moreno said, adding that he also directed the Manila Health Department personnel headed by their chief, Dr. Arnold ‘Poks’ Pangan, that they be accommodated. Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna is on top of the city’s mass vaccination program.

The mayor said he is referring to the vendors, pedicab drivers and owners and workers in small businesses like variety stores and eateries, among others, whom he said have no identification cards or IDs to prove that they are qualified to be vaccinated under the A4 category and as economic workers.

“Yun bang nagtitinda ng ice cream o taho me ID? Di ba wala? Pero kung gusto nila magpabakuna, puwede, dahil naghahanap-buhay din kayo” Moreno said, stressing that lack of ID should not be a reason to deprive the informal sector workers the opportunity to get vaccinated.

“Nagbilin na ako sa mga tao namin na paniwalaan ang sasabihin ng mga tao. Magtitiwala ang gobyerno sa tao. Kung gusto nating pagtiwalaan din tayo, gobyerno muna ang dapat na magtiwala sa tao,” the mayor added.

The mayor said he is happy that those from the informal sector are also interested in getting jabbed and need not be incentivized to seek added protection against COVID-19.

In the case of those from the formal sector such as food delivery riders, call center agents and other office workers, Moreno said that all they have to do is present an ID and it would be enough to qualify for the jab.

“Proud ako na gusto ninyong magpabakuna. It is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make..maraming salamat sa pagtugon sa aking pakiusap bilang ama ng lungsod na magpabakuna kayo,” he added.

Moreno said the city government of Manila always wants to simplify the vaccination processes while following the rules set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

As of June 8, the number of vaccines deployed so far has totalled 297,556. Of the number, 212,367 were first dose while the second dose totalled 85,189 in all.
