Man nabbed for gun, ammo at Balayan checkpoint
A MAN was arrested after being caught with a gun and ammunition at a police checkpoint in Barangay Ermita-Calzada, Balayan, Batangas, Tuesday.
Balayan town police identified the suspect as Arvin Severa.
Patrolmen Ojie Metrillo Matira and Edwin Baqui Alamag Jr. were manning a police checkpoint along the street of Bgy. Ermita-Calzada at 4:40 a.m.
A few moments later, the two officers stopped a motorcycle driven by a man and requested to present his driver’s license.
When he opened his body bag, one of the cops noticed a grip of a gun accidentally protruding from the suspect’s body bag.
After that, the police officers immediately grabbed the suspect, accosted him with the said firearm, and asked for any documents about the gun in his possession.
However, the suspect failed to present pertinent documents, which resulted in his arrest and confiscation of one unit of cal. 45 pistol with an inserted magazine for the same caliber loaded with four live ammunition and other pieces of evidence.
