Man left by wife slits throat, survives 3rd suicide try

A JOBLESS man reportedly suffering from depression was believed slit his throat with a kitchen knife Sunday before dawn in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said the 36-year-old man was found bathed in his own blood and in prone position by his cousin Kimple Villegas, 32, inside their house on 14 Bernales St.,Brgy. Baritan at around 3 a.m.

The man’s cousin immediately sought assistance from policemen and barangay watchmen.

Sub-Station-7 chief P/Maj. Patrick Alvarado instructed his men, led by P/ Cpl. Vicente Evangelista and P/Cpl. Karen Borromeo to proceed to the area.

After learning that the victim was still alive, the authorities sought the help of the Malabon Rescue Team in rushing the victim to Tondo Medical Center where he remains confined.

The victim’s mother police that her son became depressed after his live-in partner abandoned him a few years ago, bringing along with her their three-month old son.

She added that his son twice committed suicide for the past years but were prevented by his cousins who were also living in their house.
