Man gunned down while in funeral march
GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija — A septuagenarian motorcycle-riding man attending the funeral procession of a deceased friend was shot dead by two unidentified assassins after making a sudden stop at the roadside to await its arrival here on Thursday morning.
Killed was Ernesto De Guzman, 70, farmer, of Purok 1, Bgy. Faigal, this town.
The shooting occurred along the Guimba-Talugtug Road in Purok 7, Bgy. Cavite at 9 a.m.
Investigation showed the victim was riding a black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle when he stopped by the roadside to wait for the funeral procession of his friend to pass by.
At this juncture, two men on board a motorcycle stopped alongside the victim, and its back rider fired at the latter several times, resulting in his instantaneous death.
After the attack, the suspects fled towards the north direction going to Talugtug town.
Police are still clueless about the motives behind the killing.
