THE modernization and rehabilitation of the 47-hectare Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC) are now in full swing following the completion of road networks and drainage systems.

This was revealed by Congressman John Rey Tiangco as he expressed his sincere gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Bong Go for supporting the passage of House Bill 875 or the Navotas Fish Port Complex Modernization and Rehabilitation Act he authored on his first day in Congress on July 1, 2019.

At present, Rep. Tiangco said the expansion of Piers 2, 3, and 4, and the construction of new Market 3 which are included in the P14 billion project are now ongoing, while Market 4 and 5 are already lined up next.

The lawmaker said the project also includes the building of a new ship repair yard, expansion of Pier 5, and establishment of facilities, like the state-of-the-art cold storage that will ensure the sustainability and security of fish products.

“Malaking karangalan po ang maging bahagi sa pagpapatupad ng modernisasyon ng Navotas Fish Port Complex na lalong magpapa-angat sa ating lungsod at sa mga Navoteno,” Rep. Tiangco said.

He also lauded the officers and employees of the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) led by General Manager Glen Pangapalan for excellently managing the agency that paved the way for the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) to approve the modernization of the NFPC.

For his part, Mayor Toby Tiangco assured his continuous support for the modernization of NFPC that he said will deliver more livelihood opportunities and job openings for Navotenos.
