Lawmaker urges VP Sara to convince father to support PBBM
CONGRESSMEN who belong to the Young Guns bloc in the House of Representatives on Tuesday asserted that the administration’s UniTeam coalition led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. is alive and intact.
They also said the UniTeam in the House led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez remains solid.
However, one of the three urged Vice President Sara Duterte, who won the vice presidency under UniTeam, to convince her father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and her family to support the Marcos administration.
“The principle of the UniTeam goes beyond the relationship of the President and the Vice-President. Tulad kami sa House, buo kami, we are united on the call of the President under the leadership of Speaker Romualdez,” Zambales 1st District Rep. Jefferson Konghun said.
“Sana isa lang ang hinihingi namin…kausapin din sana ni VP Sara ‘yung kanyang pamilya para suportahan ang ating Pangulo, dahil wala namang ibang gusto ang ating Pangulo kundi ang kaunlaran at katahimikan ng ating bansa. So, if you’re asking me if kung buo ba ang UniTeam, yes, we are united under the leadership of the President,” he said.
Another member of the group, Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, said the UniTeam political slogan of President Marcos and VP Duterte has been “converted into a concrete and actual plan, dahil nagkroon nga tayo ng launching ng Bagong Pilipinas.”
“VP Sara was there, and makikita po natin yung relationship, VP Sara is still in the Cabinet, nasa administration po ni President Duterte and she’s very very supportive of the plans of the current administration,” he said.
Adiong said the House, composed of 300-plus-strong House of Representatives from different political parties and party-list groups, “is the perfect venue to exemplify UniTeam, kasi makikita niyo po talagang solid po kami dito.”
“In fact, we have delivered ‘yung mga priority legislation ng administration, ‘yung mga nasa LEDAC na priority legislation…so, kung titingnan po natin sa perspective ng actual governance, I don’t think there is a crack in it, kasi solid po ang ating gobyerno, solid po ang legislature, sa President and the Vice-President,” he said.
The Mindanao lawmaker noted that VP Duterte “came out with a statement that she does not agree with the pronouncement of her family, she in fact supports the President.”
“So that is an indication that the unity, this political campaign during that time is actually still intact, in so far as putting words into political action,” he said.
For his part, La Union 1st District Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega said governance under UniTeam led by President Marcos is perfectly running on the ground.
“Kami perfect examples, kami nasa distrito kami, nasa ground, gumagana po e, napaka-ayos po ng patakbo ng gobyerno, gumagana, so ibig sabihin nabubuo lahat ‘yun sa UniTeam. Yung mga pinangako nung eleksyon…the promises, nararamdaman namin sa distrito, and I’m sure ‘yung nasasakupan ko, ‘yung distrito namin nararamdaman po nila ‘yung gobyerno sa mga panahon ngayon, because of what we are doing in legislation and what we are doing on the ground,” he said.
