Laguna cops nab 2 for illegal drugs, weapons

LAGUNA Police Provincial Office (LPPO) Director Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio, on Friday, announced the arrest of two newly-identified drug personalities in the province who yielded shabu, a gun, and a grenade during an anti-narcotics operation in Bay municipality.

In a report to Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO 4-A) Director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the official said the suspects were arrested while conspiring to sell drugs to an undercover officer of the Bay Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in Barangay Dila around 6:45 p.m. last Tuesday.

Silvio said that recovered from the possession of the duo were five plastic sachets containing an estimated P6,000 worth of the so-called “poor man’s cocaine,” the marked money, a hand grenade, and a 9mm submachine gun with a magazine containing 18 live ammunition.

The suspect’s Toyota Revo was also seized by the local police.

Silvio said that the two will be facing non-bailable charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives.
