THE second daughter of former Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) spokesman, Gregorio ‘Ka Roger’ Rosal, was captured by elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army on Tuesday evening, July 5, 2022.

An initial report reaching Region 4B (Mimaropa) regional police director, P/BGen. Sydney Hernia, from the Mindoro Oriental Police Office, said arrested during the operation in Bgy. Villa Pag-asa were Emafe ‘Ka Yohan’ Rosal, Joel Raña Manis and Abegail ‘Ka Jasmin’ Rosal Buendicho, all of legal age.

Confiscated from the suspects were a .45 caliber pistol, ammunition, cellphones, sim cards, some grocery items and improvised explosive device (IED), the last a non-bailable offense.

Mindoro Oriental Provincial intelligence chief, Lt. Colonel Robert Marinda, in a report to higher headquarters, noted that Rosal has several warrants of arrest for attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms and explosives issued by the Regional Trial Court of Sta. Cruz, Laguna and the Regional Trial Court of Catanauan, Quezon.

He added that operating units from the PNP Special Action Force (SAF), 76TH Infantry Battalion, the Army’s intelligence units, the Bansud PNP and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) took part in the operation.

Emafe, who has been secretly residing in the nearby village of Bgy. Conrazon, is the younger of two daughters of Ka Roger, the highly-popular spokesman of the CPP who died of illness sometime in 2011. She was educated at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) in Manila.

Her elder sister, Andrea, was also arrested by the military on March 27, 2014 also for involvement in the local communist terrorist movement.

Andrea, pregnant at the time of her arrest, was freed the following year after an intense campaign by CPP front organizations but was subsequently killed in an encounter with government troops at Brook’s Point, Palawan, last September 3, 2020.

Their mother, Rosemarie ‘Ka Intsa’ Domanais was previously the CPP front secretary in Laguna province who was also killed in an encounter in early 2011 in Quezon province with elements from the 201st Brigade then under Colonel Eduardo M. Año, the future Armed Forces (AFP) chief of staff and secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

A few months after this encounter, it was reported that Ka Roger had died– but not before making sure that Andrea and Emafe would follow his and their mother’s violent life.

Although Emafe refuses to talk as of this writing, sources familiar with the tactical interrogation disclosed that Buendicho, 22, a resident of Bgy. Canaway, General Nakar, Quezon, confessed of once trying to escape from their mountain base due to hardship but was “apprehended” by her comrades and brought back “to be disciplined.”

Buendicho added she wanted a better future for her child, as she believes she is already pregnant at the time of their arrest.

Manis, on the other hand, is tagged as a member of the ‘milisyang bayan’ (MB) of the CPP-New People’s Army based in Bgy. Batu, Bansud.
