STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija – Manila Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential aspirant Isko Moreno wowed Novo Ecijanos on Wednesday as he assured that when he is elected president, he would go after agricultural smugglers.

“Their days are numbered and their world would soon grow smaller,” said Moreno.

Moreno and his Aksyon Demokratiko team went to Talavera, then to this town and later to San Isidro in this province dubbed as the country’s rice granary which formed part of the mayor’s “listening tour” with the people.

The Manila mayor also paid a courtesy call on Gov. Aurelio M. Umali at tje latter’s resthouse in Bgy. Soledad.

Moreno also interacted with several mayors and local leaders, including members of several religious groups here.

The Manila mayor had a “heart-to-heart” talk with a huge group of tricycle drivers and operators in this town where he told them that if he wins the presidency, the first thing he would do is to reduce by 50 percent the taxes imposed by the national government on petroleum products and electricity.

This “dream solution” to the “people’s woes” which Moreno described as “real talk” immediately “brought the house down,” with his audience erupting into cheers in huge appreciation of the mayor’s “malasakit” to the “common tao.”

His “dream solution,” Moreno said is “doable and possible.” This is because the money derived from the proposed tax cuts will immediately return to the people with the government recovering the lost revenues because it would cause people to buy more due to their stronger purchasing power, he added.

In Bgy. Sibul, Talavera, Moreno told farmers that he will protect their interests as he will institute a “Filipino First Policy” before importation is implemented. He said the days of these agricultural smugglers are numbered whether those involved are into rice, onion, garlic, or other vegetables and also meat products such as pork, chicken and fish.

“Sisikip na ang mundo nila sa akin,” he said.

He also exhorted Novo Ecijanos to invest their bottom-one peso in him as he aims for the presidency by texting their loved ones, relatives, and friends. He said this marks the first time that the people themselves are the ones staking their dream for the children’s future and not the rich and those elitists.

Moreno said he will concentrate on providing livelihood opportunities to the people in his first two years in office just to bail them out of their miseries due to the pandemic.
