THE Manila Restaurant Week (MRW) will be back over the weekend.

This was announced by Mayor Isko Moreno, who said the event will be held in celebration of the city’s 450th founding anniversary on June 24.

Moreno said that based on plans as presented by permits bureau chief Levi Facundo, the MRW returns for ‘Frozen Weekends’ from June 20 to July 4, 2021.

The mayor said that restaurants may join for free, adding that all they have to do is send a letter of intent and contact information via email at [email protected].

Moreno enjoined the public’s support for the restaurants within Manila, saying this would help rev up economy.

For his part, Facundo said, “joining this gastronomical event is absolutely free! Get first dibs on exclusive MRW deals and discounts from your favorite participating restaurants by following our Facebook official page @manilarestaurantweek for news and updates.”

Facundo said the frozen product offers will be done on weekends although the participating restaurants may still come up with their own schemes and ideas within the two-week event.

“Manila Restaurant Week Frozen Weekends means that besides the dining discounts the restaurants are offering from June 20 to July 4, there are great offers as well for frozen products like yogurt, ice cream and even frozen foods in supermarkets on weekends during the said two weeks,” Facundo added.

He said that there will be additional discount offerings on June 24 for the ‘Araw ng Maynila’ celebration and deep discounts on frozen products like ice cream, yogurt and frozen margaritas, among others, during weekends.

Restaurants, Facundo added, may also opt to give free frozen desserts as part of MRW offers on weekends (June 20, 25 to 27 and again from July 2 to 4).

Those interested, he said, may just complete the application form and email back with contact information together with their offer, photo of enticing food and company logo.

“They have to say something about their food or history of restaurant. Awards if any or if they have a known chef will be included as well. It will show in their profile once you click on their restaurant,” Facundo said.

The first MRW was launched in Manila in September last year, with over 80 restaurants participating. It is an offshoot of the’Manila Support Local’ campaign meant to encourage the public to patronize Manila-based establishments when they eat, shop or buy any of their needs.
