CABANATUAN CITY – The National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation Systems office based in this city mourns the untimely demise last Thursday of NIA deputy administrator for administrative and finance retired general Romeo Gan.

“We salute the memory of a great leader with intellectual strength, genuine conviction and true commitment in public service,” said NIA-UPRIIS department manager engineer Rosalinda Bote.

NIA administrator Ricardo Visaya joined Bote and the rest of the NIA family in extending their sincerest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Gan last came to Nueva Ecija on July 27, 2021, where he and Visaya unveiled two newly-completed solar powered pump projects in the towns of San Isidro and Peñaranda.

Gan, a “mistah” of Visaya at the Philippine Military Academy “Matikas” Class of 1983, was appointed to his post on Sept. 18, 2017, replacing Estrella Icasiano, who earlier filed an irrevocable resignation during the same month.

Gan joined NIA, bringing with him his expertise in leadership and management in administrative and finance aspects that hastened the attainment of the agency’s mandate.

Visaya said he and the entire NIA salute Gan, who provided invaluable contributions to the lives of the Filipino farmers, and the nation despite the challenges brought by the pandemic.
