A haunted Michigan restaurant with a residential prankster ghost has closed its doors for good. The Waltz Inn, which is located in the Village of Waltz in the Huron Charter Township, was established in 1900 (based on information provided by a menu that was posted on Facebook in 2019).

The building was originally a farmhouse that was owned by Joseph Waltz Sr. in the 1850s who later transformed it into a brewery and tavern before being officially turned into the Waltz Inn. It was known for its delicious fish and chips as well as yellow perch. The owners closed the business down when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world and they decided that they will not reopen.

Haunted1The Waltz Inn is a very creepy location that is said to be haunted, specifically by a ghost who enjoys playing pranks on staff and customers. Based on a story written in the menu, the building is haunted by a former owner named Tom Monastersky who ran the business until the early part of the 1980s. Tragically, Tom and his wife Olga both passed away in the same bedroom on the upper floor within just two weeks of one another.

Apparently the paranormal activity began after their deaths. Even the current owners (who have ran the restaurant since 1984) have claimed that “strange occurrences” have happened in the building that includes doors opening up on their own and furniture being moved around – as if someone (or something) was playing a prank on them. Lights have even been turned off and on throughout the building without any explanation.

Others have reported seeing Mr. Monastersky’s ghost roaming around and some have claimed that the former owner is happily hosting other entities who reside upstairs.

GhostAbout a block away from Waltz Road is the Waltz Feed Store and beside that there is an empty lot where an allegedly haunted house once stood. One story involves an individual who once lived in the house. This person said that their mother was thrown across the room and an entity had been seen in the bedroom on numerous occasions. A ghostly figure of a man was even seen outside crossing the street. After they moved out, the house completely burnt to the ground. While it’s not known for sure, there may have been a connection between this family’s paranormal experiences and the nearby Waltz Inn.

While the restaurant does seem to have paranormal activity, at least the ghost is a prankster who enjoys playing jokes on the staff and customers. Unfortunately with the restaurant closed down, he won’t be able to prank anyone … at least for the time being.
